ABOUT LITHUANIAN ACADEMY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education (LAPE) is an important centre of sports science and physiotherapy as well as a fosterer of physical education and sports values in Lithuania. Since its foundation (1934) the institution has trained nearly 9000 teachers of physical education, highly skilled coaches in various sports, physiotherapists, tourism and sport managers, etc. Many distinguished scholars, world-known coaches and prominent public figures graduated from the Academy. Since 1945 it has been the only higher institution, which trained physiotherapy specialists. LAPE was a leader in training physiotherapy specialists in Lithuania for 55 years.
At present, LAPE is a modern sports university with a total enrolment of 2700 students. The Academy’s campus includes 2 faculties, 1 study centres, 9 departments and 6 research laboratories. Studies are offered at all three cycles: Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral. Besides LAPE owns a fine Sports Centre offering various recreational and leisure activities, including a swimming pool and fitness centre.
