HEALTH CARE AND INSURANCE
EU citizens:
Citizens from EU countries have to obtain a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The EHIC gives access to state-provided medical treatment only and the scheme gives no entitlement to medical repatriation costs, nor does it cover ongoing illnesses of a non-urgent nature, so additional health insurance is advised.
Non-EU citizens:
Citizens from non-EU countries have to obtain health insurance certificate issued by their home country or Lithuanian insurance company. We advise the insurance policy which covers: insurance in case of sickness, death and repatriation, insurance period and validity in Lithuania. The cost of insurance issued by Lithuanian companies is approximately 100 EUR per year.
